The Movimiento Afrolatino Seattle (MÁS), is a 501 c-3 non-for-profit organization established in May 2014. This organization is the result of a year-long community-engaged research project Rojas led in collaboration with several community leaders during The Planning Stage: Afro-Latino Arts Education Season project. Movimiento Afrolatino Seattle (MAS) emerged in direct response to the overwhelming call from community members to sustain programming centered on African-descent histories, voices, and expressive culture, to engage and activate the various multi-generational Afro-Latine migrant communities in Washington State while also benefiting the larger local community.

The Founding Board of Directors who established MÁS were: Jacque Larrainzar (President), Ricardo Güity (Vice-President), Anne Petersen (Treasurer), Keisha Wilson (Development), Delia Pinto Santini (Secretary) and Silvio Dos Reis (Community Liaison), with the executive direction of Mónica Rojas-Stewart. This collective successfully wrote a City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods’ “Large Project Fund” proposal that funded a 5-week long –free and open to all– Afro-Latino arts education program during the fall of 2015. Rocio Nureña (intern, 2013-2014) and Sarahy Sigie (Project Assistant, 2014 – 2015) also supported the early organization and administration of MÁS.

Launching Mission statement:
