Cabañita – Museo Afroperuano de Zaña
In February 2011, DE CAJóN Project launched a fundraising campaign to support the construction of a cabañita—a dedicated space for music, dance, and cultural workshops—at the Museo Afroperuano de Zaña in Chiclayo, Peru. The success of this effort was made possible through the collaboration of members of DE CAJóN Project and the Seattle Fandango Project, with the support of the International Capoeira Angola Federation (FICA Seattle). The funds raised were formally delivered on March 16, 2011 to Luis Rocca Torres, founder of the museum, and Sonia Arteaga, who was serving as its director at the time. With this funds, the Museo Afroperuano de Zaña build a space that serves for various purposes such as ongoing music and dance workshops as well as community meetings and organizing.
